EXPORTS BREAK THE MILLION POUND BARRIER

Pickersgill-Kaye passed the million pound barrier for overseas sales as 2015 proved another profitable year for the company, boosted by a significant order for its train locking products from South East Asia and cell door locks and hatches for custodial facilities in Ireland.

This major breakthrough in exports was the cornerstone of another successful 12 months for the company which saw overall sales increase to £3.5million for the year ending November 2015. Overseas contracts won by Pickersgill-Kaye were worth £1.1million - around 30% of all sales and up from £638,300 in 2014.

There was a major orders secured for a tram project in Belgium and trains in Germany, Switzerland and Austria while locomotive cab door locks, hammer boxes and break panels were supplied to train companies in Canada, New Zealand and the United States. Pickersgill-Kaye continues to make inroads in the Far East with its specialist hose connector equipment.

Director - Business Development, Harry Griffiths, said: "We are delighted to announce that we almost doubled our overseas sales compared to the previous year, despite the continuing weakness of the Eurozone. Global sales are making an important contribution to our business."

PICKERSGILL-KAYE AND CHUBB LOCKS - HISTORIC FOES TO MODERN DAY ALLIES
There was a time when Pickersgill-Kaye would lock horns with Chubb Locks in the battle for supremacy in the locking industry. All that is a thing of the past since the two companies became part of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions.

A look at the Pickersgill-Kaye archives reveals a post office telegram, the e-mail of its day, dated 1888 from Albert Kaye saying that "we have beat Chubb  proper" after an apparent bust-up over intellectual property rights between the two businesses was heard in Parliament.

Heritage   Today Pickersgill-Kaye and Chubb Locks are not crossing swords but on the same mission - to design in the UK innovative security solutions for the markets that they serve, through listening to customers and providing them with cutting edge solutions supported by service excellence. Chubb Locks Custodial Services managing director, Simon Teagle, said: "For around 140 years Pickersgill-Kaye and Chubb fought like cat and dog.

"Coming under ASSA ABLOY we are now linked together with innovation and customer satisfaction at the heart of our businesses." Traditional rivalry stretching over two centuries has given way to the mutual benefits of shared customer bases and complementary products, driving future sales growth through innovative product development for our customers.
