  PICKERSGILL-KAYE ACHIEVES LPCB ACCREDITATION

Pickersgill-Kaye has received Loss Prevention Standard LPS 1175: Issue 7 - SR3 and SR4 security rating approval. The accreditation is for the HS100 Series surface mount multipoint locking range following a joint test programme in conjunction with Sunray Engineering Ltd.

Sunray Engineering oversaw the accreditation process with the Loss Prevention Certification Board. The SR3 and SR4 security ratings apply to both Pickersgill-Kaye's single and multipoint lock versions when fitted to Sunray's 'ExcluDoor' single and double security doorset range.

The specialist in the manufacture of high security doorsets selected Pickersgill-Kaye for the joint submission because it was impressed with the locking system's product quality and unique modular design concept allowing interchangeability between single and multipoint versions.

Developed specifically to protect high security national infrastructure and high risk commercial installations, the combination of Pickersgill-Kaye locks and Sunray doors provide high levels of physical attack resistance, without compromising health and safety requirements.

Both doorsets and locking systems have been manufactured to the highest technological standard and aesthetically designed to complement the modern workplace.

EXPERTISE LANDS HUGE ORDER FROM RAIL COMPANY
Pickersgill-Kaye has clinched its largest single order to make emergency door handles for the Class 800 and 801 trains being supplied by Hitachi Rail Europe for the Intercity Express Programme.

The company will manufacture and supply one of the biggest rail projects in the world with the Emergency Egress Device (EED) and Emergency Access Device (EAD) for the passenger carriage doors for the trains, in the multi-million pound contract which will run through to 2020.

Img-Hitachi-Andy-Hewitt-e-newsletter.png   Work has already started delivering the EEDs and EAD units for the first three trains being built in Japan, for services on Great Western and East Coast main lines, with the majority of Pickersgill-Kaye products then being supplied to Hitachi's new UK Rail Vehicle manufacturing plant at Newton Aycliffe in County Durham. Previous experience in supplying the rail sector clinched the deal.

Rail products sales manager, Andy Hewitt, said: "Pickersgill-Kaye is proud to be associated with such an exciting project for the British rail industry. Hitachi already knew of our reputation for quality products. Our performance on contract and in supplying products for HS1's Javelin - the first trains Hitachi built for the UK - sealed the deal."

DSK Engineering Ltd is praising the part played by Pickersgills for the success of a range of protective products and sheet metal work it manufactures, including transformer casings and electrical cabinets, which have to withstand extreme conditions and can be subject to rough treatment and mishandling on site. DSK's development manager, Tris Allison, said: "Pickersgills powder coat a variety of products including steel tool boxes destined for Russia, transformer housings and electrical cabinets in various finishes that need to meet IP ratings. They always do an excellent job."
