PICKERSGILL-KAYE'S LOCKS AND HATCHES ON TV
Pickersgill-Kaye's cell locks and hatches came under the national television spotlight in Channel 4's recent Cutting Edge documentary, Burgled, that focused on the efforts of West Yorkshire Police to tackle an epidemic of property break-ins
Leeds is a hot spot for burglaries and one postcode - LS13 - has been flagged up by an insurance company as the worst in the country for burglary-related insurance claims, probably inflated by the high number of student homes in the area which are viewed by burglars as easy targets.

Trailers and footage for the film feature Pickersgill-Kaye's eye-catching hatches and cell door locks after the force granted the programme makers access to custodial suites in several Leeds police stations.

We are helping the local police fight back to help drive burglary figures down in our city with a combination of innovative crime prevention techniques and state-of-the-art technology.

The cells in Pudsey Police Station's purpose-built custody suite have all been equipped with the robust 8-lever Kaye Class 1 Custodial Cell Lock and inspection hatch. The lock has been developed to meet growing demand for more choice and innovation in the custodial sector.
TWO COUNTIES ORDER FOR PICKERSGILL-KAYE SECURITY LOCKS
The company has successfully installed locks at six separate custodial facilities as part of a ground-breaking Private Finance Initiative (PFI) scheme for the new Two Counties Police Investigation Centres (PICs) in Norfolk and Suffolk.

The new Two Counties PICs, built at Wymondham, Aylsham, Great Yarmouth, Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and King's Lynn at a capital cost of approximately £60million, have some of the most modern security facilities anywhere in the UK and can accommodate police officers, investigators and staff, as well as suspects detained in custody for questioning.

Pickersgill-Kaye was awarded the contract by project contractor Kier Group to fit 146 cell and 232 pass locks on secure doors (manufactured by Cell Security Ltd) at the state-of-the-art detention units after the products were specified by the centres' FM providers, Reliance Secure Task Management (RSTM), now known as TASCOR, the custody facilities division of Capita.

Kier Contracts Manager, Nick Wright, said: "RSTM spoke very highly of Pickersgill-Kaye's locks on the Two Counties project, and advised that the door supplier had installed them as RSTM preferred locks."The Kaye Class 1 Cell Lock and Class 2 Pass Lock are designed to meet strict cell and custody requirements.

PICKERSGILL-KAYE'S EXCELLENT TRACK RECORD BRINGS IN NEW ORDERS
Demand for Pickersgill-Kaye's rail products continues apace, with orders from Irish Rail and the United States boosting overseas orders for standard locomotive cab door locks.
During a major overhaul of its 18-strong fleet of 071 class locomotives, which are chiefly used for freight and permanent way operations in Ireland, Irish Rail's engineers found that after 30 years' service the original cab door locks needed replacing and turned to us after we had previously designed and manufactured cab door locks for the company's 201 class locomotives used for hauling passenger rolling stock.

Pickersgill Kaye's Rail Product Sales Manager, Andy Hewitt, said: "We are very pleased with the latest overseas orders. Repeat business is always welcome, while the American order is a great indication that our export profile in the rail industry is increasing worldwide."

POWDER COATING SKILLS DEPLOYED FOR RAIL PROJECT

Dalesman Fabrication Ltd is refurbishing metal items for Northern Rail, such as seat pedestals, litter bins, handrails and table legs on the train company's fleet of 16 Class 158 and 144 units.

Dalesman Director, Sean Gelder, said: "Metal fittings in passenger trains have to withstand a lot of rough treatment and mishandling. Pickersgills are very flexible and do a great job."
