Pickersgill-Kaye Ltd has secured a breakthrough deal to supply cell door locks for the custodial suite of the first railway satellite police station on the route of the new Hong Kong-China Express Rail Link.

The company will provide its renowned 8-lever Kaye Class 1 Custodial Cell Lock to door manufacturer Jardine Engineering, which is part of an international consortium working on the prestigious project. This is the first time that Pickersgill-Kaye has exported its custodial products into China and it is confident that it will lead to further orders from the region.

Chinese authorities specified cell locks similar to those in UK police custody suites, which made Pickersgill-Kaye's product an obvious choice as it has supplied the Kaye Class 1 to police forces across the country including the Met, Cleveland, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire and Two Counties.

Last year 34% of Pickersgill-Kaye's sales were export business - the biggest proportion of total sales the company has ever achieved - and it is confident of breaking into even more markets with products it believes will appeal to those involved in the high security sector.

Business Development Manager Security & Engineering Products, John Moore, said: "The Chinese wanted a UK police style cell lock. This contract should help open doors to potential new markets."

Pickersgill-Kaye has made a new appointment as part of ongoing investment in its employees, products and manufacturing systems in a move to break into new markets and bring further customer benefits.

Mark Tailby brings nearly 35 years' experience in the steel door and security locks industry to his new position as Product Manager, High Security Locking responsible for Pickersgill-Kaye's renowned range of high security multipoint locks and the heavy duty perimeter gate lock range.

Img-PR54a Product Manager E-newsletter.png   Group Managing Director, Peter Murphy, said: "Mark was with Adams Rite Europe Ltd, who originally distributed Pickersgill-Kaye's High Security Multipoint Locking Systems. He spent three years promoting the product. His industry knowledge will be of great benefit to us and our customers as we continue to develop our business within the high security sector."

Following his appointment, Mr Tailby added: "I'm delighted to be joining Pickersgill-Kaye. Its products have a long standing reputation for performance, strength, security and durability which provides me with an excellent platform for taking the High Security Locking range forward. The company has a very bright future."
Pickersgill-Kaye Ltd's high security multipoint locks played a major part in a Warrior security door system which foiled an armed robbery attempt in Birmingham by trapping the culprits as they tried to make their escape from a jewellery shop.

The incident, which was caught on CCTV and featured in the BBC programme 'Caught Red Handed', perfectly demonstrated the attack-resistant qualities of Pickersgill-Kaye's multipoint locks and the two high security performance interlocking doors manufactured by Warrior Doors Ltd. Helping to trap the robbers in the shop, and withstand repeated and frenzied attacks on the doors, was Pickersgill-Kaye's HS170 three-point lock for access control systems, which has an automatic deadlocking function with a 25mm bolt throw and high security cylinder guard.
